No one likes to sleep on a concave mattress, and you won’t have to worry about that with Hyphen. It’s backed by a 20-year warranty, so rest assured that your Hyphen will not end up with a sinkhole.
No need to flip your Hyphen. It’s always good to rotate 180° periodically, just like any mattress.
No. Once it’s out, it’s out. But, there’s hope! While you can’t fold it and put it back in its original box, you can move it just like you would a regular mattress.

Hyphen is made from a proprietary blend of materials. The comfort layer perfectly contours to your body, while the second, buoyant layer gives that healthy bounce. The three layers together are a perfect blend to offer the support necessary to promote muscle recovery and a blissful night of rest. With temperature regulation and antimicrobial features, Hyphen is a CertiPUR-US Certified mattress that is designed to fit your active lifestyle.
Absolutely! But honestly, we don’t recommend it. You'll get better results and more life from your cover by removing and spot cleaning. Use a non-abrasive detergent, pat the dirty area, and put the cover back on once it’s completely dry. Putting the cover in the washer/dryer may make it shrink or fit improperly.
You can keep a Hyphen in the box for up to three months. However, the 100 night trial countdown starts the day you receive it, so we suggest ordering your mattress after that month long backpacking trip.
Showroom purchases can be hard. You walk around and lie on various mattresses and hope that something speaks to you. It’s difficult to make a decision when you’re not in your natural habitat. When your bed shows up on a doorstep in an easily unpackable box, you don’t have to do the heavy lifting. Simply unpack, watch it grow, and try it for 100 nights.
Hyphen is only available in standard sizes at this point – but you never know!
What pesky dust mites? Hyphen is built with two layers of antimicrobial protection, both in the foam and the mattress cover itself. Dust mites are stopped in their tracks; and lucky for you, so are all kinds of other microorganism including bacteria, viruses, and more.
Foam-based mattresses can have a light scent when you take them out of the box. Worry not… Hyphen uses foam that’s been certified free of toxins and our foam layers are laminated together with a water-based glue to keep unwanted chemicals out of your bed. Once you unwrap it, just pop open a window open, and any scent should disappear shortly.
We know sleeping hot is a common complaint about memory foam mattresses. This is exactly why Hyphen uses our own proprietary foam formulation, and why we’ve built several methods of temperature regulation into it. No one likes the night sweats, and we’ve designed Hyphen to be breathable and adapt to your body’s changing temperature—so you can sleep cool and comfortable.
We manufacture our own mattresses, so we know exactly what’s going into each Hyphen. Our foam is CertiPur-US certified, we use a water-based glue, and we don’t add flame retardant – so rest easy, your Hyphen is safe, and so are you.
We know that you’re committed to health, so we don’t put any extra chemicals on your Hyphen. We’ve use an all-natural outer wrapping that is designed to snuff out oxygen that keeps a fire burning, so you won’t have to worry about your mattress becoming a state of emergency.
All of Hyphen foam is CertiPUR-US Certified. Here’s what that means...
CertiPUR-US® approved foams are: Made without ozone depleters, made without PBDE, TDCPP, or TCEP flame retardants, made without mercury, lead and other heavy metal, made without formaldehyde, made without phthalates regulated by the Consumer Product Safety Commission, Low VOC (Volatile Organic Compound) emissions for indoor air quality (less than 0.5 parts per million).
The Federal government requires all mattresses sold in the US to meet very stringent burn tests, as governed by 16 CFR 1633 and 1632.
While you don’t necessarily need a box spring, Hyphen will sit on top of any firm, flat surface. Generally speaking, the flatter and harder the better. Hyphen works well with most bed frames, slatted frames, or a box spring if that’s how you roll. Just make sure that the slats aren’t over four inches apart. You’re also welcome to put your Hyphen on the floor – no bed frame needed!
Not if you’re sticking with the same sized mattress. But we do love the feel of new bedding, so feel free to celebrate your new Hyphen with a new set of sheets!
Try your new Hyphen mattress for up to 100 nights and if you don't love it, we'll arrange to pick it up and refund you your money for the mattress. Please note this 100 night sleep trial is just for Hyphen mattresses and obviously excludes other products sold such as pillows, bases, covers etc.

Get Tired –
Regular physical activity has been proven to improve sleep quality. So play hard, you’ll sleep better. Just make sure to give yourself a few hours of downtime before bedtime.
Be Habitual –
Go to sleep at the same time every night; wake up at the same time every morning. And wind down with bedtime rituals to help you relax. If you’re consistent, your body will learn the signals and form habits let you fall asleep faster and sleep better.
Sleep Uninterrupted –
Disruptions to your sleep cycle, especially during the REM sleep stage, can make you feel groggy when you wake up and have long lasting effects throughout the day. To feel the most rejuvenated, aim for continuous sleep. One quick fix—adjusting the alarm for a slightly later time and avoiding the snooze button—could bring big benefits.
Nap Carefully –
Power naps can help you get through the day but they can interfere with sleep at night, so use them wisely.
Block Your Clock –
Waking up and seeing the time during the night can make your mind race with thoughts about the day to come, which can keep you awake. Put your alarm clock in a drawer, under your bed, or turn it away from view.
Use Light –
Drink less caffeine, especially in the afternoon. Avoid alcohol before bed—it may help you fall asleep, but it also makes the sleep you get less restful. And stay away from big meals at night; the body’s digestive process can keep you awake.
Create a Sleep Sanctuary –
Keep your bedroom cool and remove distractions. Consider using blackout curtains, eye shades, ear plugs, white noise machines, humidifiers, etc.
